“Maybe we should take it back to the ship?” B. B. suggested. “So the Colonel can look at it where there’s gravity and an atmosphere?” He stepped towards the newly-opened pit, but a spacesuited arm suddenly thrust out, blocking his way.

“Leave it,” Colonel Ratched ordered. “Better still, throw it back through the wormhole! This thing wasn’t meant to be found.”

There was something in his weathered face, visible even through the visor of his helmet, that gave the younger men pause. “Colonel?” Prime asked carefully. “What’s got you spooked?”

Before the Colonel could reply, an alarm went off. The ship’s computer had detected another craft approaching. Prime frowned at the holodisplay in his helmet. “That can’t be right,” he said. “That looks like a Faction ship…”

“Then let’s not wait around for them to find us,” snapped the Colonel. He fired up his jet pack.

“It’s got to be a mistake!” Prime protested. “The Faction were destroyed…”

“The Faction were defeated,” Ratched corrected him. “Less talking, more leaving!” He looked around at the others, staring at him - they’d never heard that tone in his voice before. The Colonel was usually content to sit back and let Prime give the orders - now he was suddenly talking as if in charge of a military unit. “What are you girls waiting for?” he demanded. “An invitation? Asses in gear, now! You two,” he pointed at B. B. and Ryeong. “Grab that thing.”

“First he doesn’t want it, then he wants it,” grumbled B. B., as they slid into the pit to retrieve the glowing object.

“Colonel!” said Prime. “What’s wrong with you? What is that thing?”

“No time!” said the Colonel. “Just move.”

Bully let down a cable for B. B. and Ryeong to tie around the pyramid, which was nearly bigger than they were, and they lugged it out of the pit and back to the ship with Colonel Ratched hollering at them the whole way. Whatever his problem was, he was clearly on the edge of panic, and B. B. was worried the old man would have a heart attack before he could explain to them exactly what the hell was going on.

It was only when they were safely on their way out of the asteroid field that the Colonel finally consented to talk. “You’re the history buff, Prime,” he said darkly. “Ever hear of the Seed?”

B. B. felt a chill wash over him, and he could tell from Prime’s tiny shudder that the boss felt the same thing. Everybody had heard of the Seed.

“Yeah,” Prime managed. “The first spark of life in the universe. The ultimate ancestor from which all living things are descended.”

“Everybody knows that old legend,” grumbled Bully.

“Well, here’s another legend,” Ratched said. “You can keep your bombs and your lasers and your soldiers. The real reason we won the war was because we never let the Faction get their mitts on the Seed. It was sealed up and launched through a wormhole to some far-flung corner of the galaxy where no-one would ever find it.”

B. B. licked his lips. “So… you’re saying we found the Seed? The actual Seed like in all those conspiracy theories and movies?”

“No,” said the Colonel. “I’m saying it found us.”

It’s like you tapped into my head and wrote a ficlet for something I’ve always wanted, I am such a sucker for AU Transformers stuff, you have no idea, especially the TFA storyline which is what really got me back to the fandom and mythos. I love your Ratchet, he’s really in character here and your renaming the Allspark as the Seed, I also like the feel, it’s like TF combined with Mass Effect or something. This is just all sorts of awesome and thank you for sharing!

Aw man, yeah sometimes you get pricks like that. I got asked to leave when I riffed 13 Ghosts once with a friend of mine, we weren’t even loud about it, just whispering and giggling, and we weren’t even sitting near anyone in there. Yet, you could hear this guy and girl in the waay front row, she was totally going down on him and yet they weren’t told anything? D: So we snuck into another movie. :\

Wow today kind of started off bleh, got better when the evening rolled around.

When we all woke up, we found out there was a blackout. :| I could use the computer only so much before it went on standby, so we just took off to Albuquerque’s Nob Hill area.

Carly and I stopped at this shop and that playing that remix of Aha’s Take on Me on a wax player, and Ben got lost around the corner. Seeing as he has no sense of direction we told him to describe his surroundings via cellphone, so he just took a picture (smart kid). Carly took off to find her brother but got lost from me, 10 minutes later she called me to confirm she found him in the food court and they were getting harassed by a man dressed like Abe Lincoln trying to get them to sign for some petition to keep fireworks outside the city limits. They got a free box of sparklers for the trouble. I found them, we ordered frozen lemonade and pretzels to beat the heat, Carly got candy floss only for it to get molested by pigeons.

Because the sun was threatening to cook us alive, we ended up going to a movie, sadly they were not playing iron Man 3 anymore, but they had older movies for like a buck, so we watched Oz: The Great and Powerful, which SOI, but hey, free A/C and popcorn refills, plus there was only like ten people in total in there so we got to riff at it. XD

Evening rolled around, we grabbed some A&W and headed home while talking about Carly’s current obsession with inter-dimensional doors, until we cranked up the oldies and started to sing at the top of our lungs to Areosmith and Neil Diamond.

And currently we just got back from walking along the riverbank, and were treated to fireflies. :D Carly got to see them for the first time since you can’t see them in the city, Ben got to see them last year when he visited me. It was magical.

I’m just about to head out to work now (taking my tablet with me to check out updates), Carly will be babysitting Sammy, and Ben went to go rent a movie from the Redbox, possibly a scary movie. Heh. I’m pretty sure they’ll be asleep by the time I come back, unless they’re going to look for another demon bird.

I read everyone’s comments and want to thank you all for the kind words and support. You guys are really lovely, wonderful and the naysayers can go elsewhere. I do agree that I should run my blog the way I want to, but I also want to make sure my blog isn’t offending my followers either. I want to be considerate and sensitive to their feelings.

Some people mentioned they want more art and THAT I can do, but I’ll try to vary it from time to time. Personal posts from now on will be hidden under cuts and tagged as such, and I’ll try to limit the amount of ‘Twitter-like’ updates, maybe compile them into a digest-like post after the end of the day. How does that sound? Is that more organized and well rounded for a blog?

From someone who use to watch me that explained why she was unfollowing me, I won’t say her name out of privacy, and also because she wasn’t rude or mean in her explanation. Her reasons for unfollowing me was because I post art of the same subject a lot, I post things that come across as very insensitive and anti-feminist even in my tags, and I rant a lot about things that come across as very first-world problemish and even if I didn’t intend to come across that way, it makes me appear very shallow and spoiled.

What really irked her was the frequent updates of my day, especially this week with my guests. She said that is better left to Twitter, not a site like Tumblr, updates like that flood people’s dashes and bump off other people’s posts. It also comes across as attention seeking. She’s not the only person who feels this way, there are four others who share the same POV.

So is this true? I don’t want anyone to feel forced to follow me, that’s really unfair on your part. Don’t feel bad about unfollowing me, you don’t even have to give me a reason like this lovely lady did, just click the button and your dash won’t be cluttered with my crap. Meanwhile I’ll try to vary my work or not post so much art anymore, I’ll keep updates to myself from now on as well as personal things.

I apologize to anyone I might have offended or annoyed. I’m very sorry. I hope in the future more people like her will tell me the truth about what I’m doing wrong so I can correct myself.

The vulture-like head with an oversize beak like a macaw, the dense fur-like feathers and a strange skeletal tail, almost made me think of a rat’s. It made weird sounds like that of a cat when we got too close, but it wasn’t in any pain, just fearful shrieks. I think this might be a baby one, because it couldn’t really fly, just flutter like a chicken. I just showed this to Cameron’s father and him being a native has never seen a bird like that before, like a weird cross-bred of a chicken and vulture.

That is an odd-looking bird all right.

I’m hoping someone tells us what it is, either an undiscovered species or a very rare native bird. Carly is celebrating either way, we’re going out to Cold Stone, her treat. XD
